For the past eight years, I have worked on a wide variety of websites, for both educational/non-profit and commerical institutions. Below is a selection of sites that I have worked on most recently (click on the screen image or URL to view the site in a new browser window):

NCAWAugust 2001-present
Web Designer / Site Administrator, Nineteenth Century Art Worldwide, web-based journal of the Association of Nineteenth-Century Art Historians
http://www.19thc-artworldwide.org/

  • In collaboration with the journal's editors, I designed the initial website including determining information architecture.
  • In creating the design and layout of the site, I confronted issues specific to peer-reviewed, academic journals, such as use of footnotes, extensive images and illustrations, print versions of articles, and characters from foreign languages such as Polish and Czech.
  • In building the site, I first created a mock-up in Photoshop and then hard-coded the site using HTML and CSS, in compliance with W3C standards.
  • I continue to develop and administrate the site, publishing two issues per year which includes four to seven articles and around twelve book and exhibition reviews.
  • In fall 2009, I implemented a major site upgrade, transforming NCAW into a Joomla-based site.
  • I continue to collaborate with the editors, working on future enhancements to the site. Our goal is to use internet technologies to extend the possibilities of scholarly publishing, collaboration and information exchange.

From 2004, I moved away from website design and development to concentrate on researching and writing my dissertation. Following are a selection of sites I worked on from 2000 to 2004. Most of these sites are either no longer online, or the design has been changed significantly since I worked on the project.
